Here, the artist folds and unfolds a Belgian lace doily to the count of the Catholic rosary, as if in quiet homage to his grandparents’ faith and heritage. At the same time, repetition renders this ordinary act of care absurd and, with time, potentially damages the heirloom itself. For the artist, the work “elevates the domestic into ritual, where repetition becomes both devotion and compulsion.”
